Types of blood groups + the importance of knowing your blood type

Blood types are one of the very important factors in human life, as every individual has specific blood types. Blood types are characterized by a classification based on the presence of two types of proteins in the blood: antigens and antibodies.

There are three types of blood groups: type A blood types, type B blood types, and type O blood types, in addition to type AB blood, which contains the genes for both types A and B.

People with blood type O can donate blood to all other blood types, while people with blood type AB can receive blood from all blood types. Type O blood types are among the most common blood types in the world, with about 45% of the population having type O blood.

There are multiple factors in the blood that distinguish the different types, and blood types are considered one of the important matters that must be taken into consideration when performing surgical operations or donating blood, as it must be ensured that the blood type of the donor person matches the blood type of the recipient.

Although blood types do not directly affect health, knowing your blood type can be important sometimes, such as when preparing for marriage or when surgery is needed.
